Tampa Bay’s darling quarterback Tom Brady has officially hung his cleats after a long journey in the NFL. Many believe that he was no way near his retirement form. But NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal understands what went through the veteran’s head before calling it quits.

During the latest episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, the sports analyst talked about his opinions on Tom Brady’s retirement. He knows that Brady could have easily dominated the league, at least for one more season. Take, for example, his last game against the Rams. Brady almost replicated his Super Bowl LI comeback, but the defense failed to keep up with the pace. 

Brady’s last game was just a gist of how productive he can be especially at times of immense pressure. However knowing well that he was still capable of a Super Bowl campaign, the quarterback called it quits for a particular reason. A reason the NFL wasn’t ready to hear, but it was necessary for the 44-year-old.

“Father Time was the only thing that has defeated Tom Brady,” Shaquille said“If he was 39, we have another five more years.” And though it seemed a bit harsh for the fans, it was time for the seven-time Super Bowl winner to close his book and walk into the sunset.

The Lakers legend, however, was not happy with the decision made by Tom Brady at first. Since on Instagram, Shaq replied pretty hilariously on the retirement post of Brady. “No man get your butt up and do one more year,” Shaq man commented

However, it was not only Shaq who reacted like that. Football will never be the same without the 44-year-old, and the fans know that very well. Yet, after serving in the NFL for so long, Brady had to make a decision. It was time for him to provide his family with the love and time that they deserve.

Although it was hard for Shaq to let Brady go in his mind, finally bid the GOAT adieu in the most loving way. “Love u bro, absolute joy to watch,” Shaq said. The NFL will forever remember Brady for his immortal legacy, which would be a lullaby for many athletes for generations to come.
