While the Tampa Bay team has picked pace very recently, they struggled during the start of the NFL season. As they struggled on the pitch, their former head coach, Bruce Arians, had a personal scare of his own.

Bruce Arians had stepped down as the Bucs’ head coach post their Super Bowl-winning 2021 season. He currently plays the role of senior advisor to the Buccaneers’ General Manager, Jason Licht.
Bruce Arians had a 911 scare
The recently turned 70-year-old stated that he felt severe chest pain the night before the Bucs played the Falcons. Initially brushing it off for indigestion, Arians took some off-the-counter medicines as his home remedy for his complaints.
He said post their meal; it felt like he had two knives all the way up in his chest. “The more I tried to take a breath, the worse it got,” said the veteran as he explained his painful moment. Eventually, not being able to shake the pain off, he summoned his wife to call for medical help. Arians was then taken to a local Tampa hospital as 911 stretchered him out of his house.
Arians revealed that doctors initially were wary of his situation as well. They suspected a mild heart attack or pericardial infusion at first.
However, he then claimed it was neither of the above. “Thankfully, the scans showed no fluid, no heart damage, and absolutely no blockages. They had a cardiac radiologist look at everything and they ended up giving me anti-inflammatories,” said Arians as he was diagnosed with myocarditis.

The medicines helped him with the inflammation around his cardiac muscles as he recovered in the hospital for the next four days.
Relief for the Bucs
The Buccaneers beat the Falcons the next day, which would have been good for Arians’ recovery as well. However, for a regular at Bucs games’ home or away, he wasn’t present for their next two games, which ended up in losses. Missing out on these games would have also been good for his heart. He eventually returned to the Bucs’ game against the Ravens, which was another disappointing affair for the Tampa Bay team. Arians had even gone on record to call out his quarterback, Tom Brady, for his poor showing.

Even while he recovered, he was in constant touch with the offensive coordinators of the team and ensured to play his role. The Bucs’ current performances might be a huge relief for their former coach and would definitely be light for his recovering heart.
