The third pillar of Patrick Mahomes’ hit docu-series might have ended his career! Titled, “Quarterback”, released on Netflix, the show remained at the top of the chart for straight 7 days. Delving deep into the three quarterbacks’ struggling and triumphant moments, this 8-episode docu-series kept the fans on their toes. One of the protagonists, Marcus Mariota, took the NFL world by storm after telling his story on the show, which has left the fans in hype for the upcoming season. However, it now seems highly unlikely that he would even get to play in the upcoming season.
After last season’s blunder with the quarterback situation in the Eagles’ roster, they decided to recruit one of the premier QBs in the league as a backup. Regrettably, during their second preseason match, Mariota’s lackluster performance has plunged both fans and experts into a state of unease.

Last season, the Eagles encountered a significant hurdle when their star QB, Jalen Hurts, was sidelined due to an injury during the crucial final weeks. Determined to avoid a repeat this season, the management sought a solution, leading them to Mariota. However, in Thursday night’s preseason clash against the Browns, the backup’s performance disappointed, going 9-of-17 for 86 yards with an interception and enduring three sacks.
Throughout the game, Mariota struggled, missing several throws that drew criticism. Following the game, which ended in an 18-18 tie, Mariota candidly admitted in an interview, “I was sloppy,” followed by, “I can do a better job of getting our guys operating cleaner and more efficiently. But that is what preseason is for. Kind of get some of that stuff ironed out. Clean off some of the rust. We’ll find ways to get better.” Despite this, the team’s head coach, Nick Sirianni, remains steadfast in his faith in the quarterback, asserting that Mariota’s performance, while not ideal, shouldn’t be labeled as a poor showing.

Right after the Eagles’ 2nd preseason showdown, McAfee took to his YouTube channel to share his two cents on the issue. Even in the title of the video, it suggests how everyone might have seen the end of the backup quarterback’s career. The crew discussed Mariota’s disappointing performance and even added how playing under Sirianni and performing downhill is such a concerning trait.
McAfee then added how he was getting into the spirit of the season, and was even covering the whole game on his social media, only to find out the hard way, exclaiming, “God damn, this is fu**ing terrible football.” He further added how Mariota might have lost his touch this season, which can’t be at all healthy for the team.

Despite the recent setback, Mariota’s reputation as one of the league’s premier quarterbacks remains intact, and there’s strong anticipation for his comeback in the upcoming games.
