Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury is taking a new turn. The 39-year-old quarterback’s desire to lead the New York Jets throughout the season ended with a harrowing injury. With just four minutes into the season opener against the Buffalo Bills, A-Rod faced an injury when he was tackled by the Bills’ Leonard Floyd, and after medical scans, it was declared that Rodgers had torn his Achilles tendon. 

To capitalize on the opportunity of the Jets’ empty quarterback spot, free agent Colin Kaepernick’s agent pitched his services to the franchise. With seven years of absence from the league, quarterback Kaepernick shared a cryptic message, that potentially points out his return.

Kaepernick’s controversial stint like kneeling during the national anthem in the preseason game in 2016, got his NFL career in the dark. This gesture ignited a nationwide debate, where a few supported Kaepernick, and a few criticized him. However, since 2016, Kaepernick has missed on the Gridiron but now it can be the end of his wait.

Following Rodgers’ injury and his pitch to the Jets, Kaepernick shared an Instagram story with a photo of the field, accompanied by the caption, “The best time to hit the field.” This short yet precise message has got everyone to anticipate Kaepernick’s return to the field

Recently, Kaepernick was seen throwing passes, and he declared being in good shape where he is determined with his workouts. However, Kaepernick’s interest in being the Jets’ face of the offense, gets a twist in the story.

After Rodgers’ injury in the initial stage of the game, quarterback Zach Wilson took the lead and sailed the team to a victory by 22-16 against the Bills. However, to fill in the void created by Rodgers’ injury, the Jets will search for it in the free-agent realm. And who better than the free agent Colin Kaepernick? Desperate for his NFL comeback, Kaep’s agent contacted the Jets for his services but the Jets are looking for something else.

As per Josina Anderson, the senior journalist at CBS Sports, “The Jets are not pursuing Colin Kaepernick to address their immediate need for QB depth”. The franchise will further narrow down its options to choose among the selective players. However, Kaep’s efforts to make it again in the NFL can be fruitful. But only time will unfold the mystery behind Kaepernick’s return. Till then the Jets’ quest to fill in the void, is the talk of the town.
