There couldn’t be a bigger honor for a musician than to perform at the Super Bowl. However, this sentiment doesn’t entirely align with the 12-time Grammy winner, Taylor Swift. Repeatedly, the Swifties have found themselves met with disappointment as her anticipated appearances at the event failed to materialize. This was particularly evident last year when her expected slot was ultimately filled by the charismatic Barbadian artist, Rihanna. Dressed in a striking red jumpsuit, Rihanna electrified the stage and delighted millions of viewers by revealing her second pregnancy.
As the 2023 season looms closer, there already have been speculations around this year’s performers, with names of both male and female musicians being tossed into the mix. Nonetheless, a recent insider revelation shows how TayTay’s appearance at the show has met with certain obstacles.

Is Taylor Swift actually coming?
Apart from Rihanna, the Super Bowl halftime show has featured The Weeknd, Shakira, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Prince, Bruno Mars, and Madonna. However, the show still can not get TayTay on board. According to an article by Music Times, a source has recently revealed that the 12-time Grammy winner has declined an opportunity to perform at the halftime show.

The source also added how other performers had to pay a large sum for production themselves, which isn’t very logical. Another source reveals that Taylor would only appear on the show when she finishes re-recording her stolen albums. With her new album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) set to release in October, coupled with her extensive Eras Tour concerts extending into the next year, the prospect of her Super Bowl appearance seems unlikely. However, major deals have been made in the past, and this could repeat history, with the 12-time Grammy winner at the center.

Despite the speculation, fans were quick to react to the news, emphasizing that Taylor Swift’s stature doesn’t necessitate a Super Bowl appearance, as she consistently sells out stadiums with tickets valued at over $1000.

Who could be the potential performer?
While the possibility of Taylor Swift gracing the Super Bowl stage seems highly unlikely, fans have rallied behind other artists of their choice. Among these, the three-time Grammy winner Harry Styles stands out as a formidable favorite, even surpassing Taylor in terms of fan fervor. The “As It Was” musician has yet to display any overt interest, but his loyal fanbase has already begun advocating for his appearance on the grand stage.
In addition to Harry Styles, another contender that fans are rooting for is the recently successful Miley Cyrus, who dropped her hit single “Flowers.” Furthermore, Lil Nas X, who notably featured in a Super Bowl advert in 2020, remains in the mix as a possible halftime show performer.
