It’s no secret that Jeff Bezos, one of the wealthiest people in the world, wanted to buy the Washington Commanders. However, his quest to buy the NFL franchise hit a $7 billion roadblock. But that doesn’t stop the league from courting him onto the ownership table. The $125.3 billion worth Amazon owner may still have a chance to pump his money into the world of football and the NFL is fully behind that idea.

Bezos has long been interested in taking the Commanders off Dan Snyder’s plate. But a Washington native may have already beat him to the finish line in that quest. According to reports, however, it’s not all over for him yet. Reportedly, the NFL is trying to give him another way to be a part of the exclusive group of league franchise owners. Here’s how.

According to Peter King, the NFL is lobbying Jeff Bezos to buy a franchise in the league. It won’t be the Commanders, as everyone previously thought. But there are other avenues that may become available in the not-so-distant future that may be more appealing than a franchise that has barely made it to the playoffs after the turn of the century. One of the options, according to King, is the Seattle Seahawks. The franchise has everything a new owner would want, a great fanbase, a super management structure, state-of-the-art facilities, and a winning roster on the field. The new captain will just have to walk in and take over this luxury cruise liner in perfect working condition.

The Seattle cruise is in perfect running condition. One question remains though, if Snyder is selling then why didn’t Bezos make a serious offer? Here is a little overview of that situation.

Daniel Snyder has been a lifelong Washington football fan. When he bought the then-Redskins in 1998, he may have thought that he would hold the franchise for life. But the circumstances have changed drastically in the last few years.

Snyder and the Commanders got hit by multiple investigations into the alleged wrongdoings in the franchise building. In view of that, Snyder is somewhat compelled to part with the franchise he grew up supporting. According to many reports, he holds Jeff Bezos responsible for that. The investigation into Snyder and the Commanders gained steam after the Bezos-owned Washington Post published scathing reports into the alleged workplace harassment and other allegations. So, the relationship between the Amazon owner and Snyder isn’t a perfect one. Some reports even suggested that Snyder barred Bezos from even bidding.
