When it comes to retirement talks, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce is no stranger. Since the last Super Bowl LVII, he has been mulling over the thought of retirement from the NFL.
As a veteran player for the Eagles since 2011, his contemplation on retirement grieved a lot of hearts. The Pat McAfee Show records the harmlessly selfish side of the six-time Pro Bowl champion.
“I’m gonna take it one at a time” – Jason Kelce on retirement

In a Pat McAfee podcast, the former NFL punter brought up the Eagles center’s retirement plan last season. But now that he’s back on the field, Pat McAfee asked him if retirement contemplation is going to be a regular thing with him.
The Super Bowl champion had long been considering retirement from the league since the last season. He broke the silence at the show, saying, “I’m gonna take it one at a time. One at a time just, you know, feel where we’re at physically, mentally, and emotionally and whether you can make that type of commitment. Because it does take you away from your family.“
As much as Jason Kelce wants to fully commit himself to the game, he also addresses other priorities. During the offseason, the 35-year-old was on a family vacation with his wife and three daughters. He states, “I think that the balance of being there for my family, being there for my girls and wife is the number one most important thing to me.“

Jason Kelce hid nothing in his wish to compete at being the “best in the world at something.” But according to him, “Once you get married, once you have kids, all that other stuff takes a big time second seat.“
