In football or any other sport, oftentimes players find themselves fighting an inner battle rather than one on the sporting field. In such situations, you need a strong leader or a guide who can point you in the right direction. Such a figure can help channelize your energy in a positive manner which ultimately translates to results on the field.

In head coach Ron Rivera, Washington Football Team has the perfect personality to fill that role. The experienced NFL coach arrived in the American capital last year. He managed to lead the team to the playoffs last season and intends to do the same in 2021.

Ron Rivera heaps praise on Washington players after Giants win

Coach Rivera’s boys pulled off an epic 29-30 victory against the New York Giants on Thursday night. This was their first win of the season and they did so without first-choice starter, Ryan Fitzpatrick.

The former Carolina Panthers boss delivered an emphatic speech in the dressing room where he spoke about ‘second chances’. He also gave out match balls to players who made an impact in the crucial win over their divisional rivals.

However, he also added that the team’s defense needs to improve in the coming weeks.

“There are too many good football players for us not to play better than what we did today. That is the big disappointment because they are good football players, and we just have to correct some things,” Rivera added via the team’s official post-game transcript.

Second-year defensive star Chase Young echoed the same sentiment following last night’s nervy win in front of home fans.

“It wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t pretty, but we got that s— done…We came out, got the W, and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters. It feels good. A packed stadium. Then, you know, this long weekend. It’s bad when you just took an L. I’m glad we came out with this dub,” Young said following the win.

WFT will go up against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in Week 3. You can’t afford to miss this one!
