Unscripted action is often the best action. The latest episode of ESPN’s ‘Get Up’ saw some great candid action that attracted considerable attention. The host, midway through an engaging discussion with his panel members on upcoming NFL topics, including the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Denver Broncos, suddenly went off track. He halted the show momentarily upon noticing an important article missing from his set.
The host’s association with this particular article is longstanding and has a history of appearances on numerous occasions. The die-hard Gang Green fan has even attracted negative comments for his gimmick from fellow television hosts like Boston sports radio host Fred Toucher.

For nearly three decades, Mike Greenberg has been a familiar face on ESPN. Famous for his Mike & Mike morning radio show which aired on ESPN from 2000-17. Popularly referred to as “Greeny”, he has never been the other flashy and over-the-top personalities like Stephen A. Smith or Skip Bayless. Greenberg fits more perfectly as a prototypical sports anchor who might draw attention to himself, occasionally, through teases or stunts.

On the latest episode of ESPN’s ‘Get Up’ which aired on the 29th of, 2023 Greenberg showcased a similar stunt. Midway through a discussion with his panel members, ESPN insiders Dan Graziano and Mike Tannenbaum, accompanied by guest speaker Christopher Lee Canty, former Dallas Cowboys defensive end, Greeny cut his fellow colleague off saying, “…I am looking over your shoulder- That is not the Aaron Rodgers Jersey that has been there for the past two months! I may not know everything, but I know my Aaron Rodgers Jerseys.” continued Greenberg, looking rather disturbed. “I am pointing the finger at someone in this room who has stolen my Jersey,” he suggested.
The camera suddenly follows a young man, later identified by the host as a new employee, walking in with a frame in hand. Upon reaching the panel he turns the frame revealing the missing white-and-green Aaron Rodgers Jersey. A friendly banter develops between the hosts and the new employee who had decided to “remodel” the set without prior information, before ending with Greenberg declaring that he will be taking the jersey out of the frame and wearing it for every game this season and “leave the green one on the wall”.
Aaron Rodgers is good at gestures!
The infamous white and green Aaron Rodgers Jersey has made multiple appearances on the show. The die-hard Gang Green fan was gifted the Jets’ legacy jersey by Aaron Rodgers himself via a guest speaker on another ‘Get Up’ episode that aired on July 24, 2023.

Greeny’s obsession with the Gang Green especially Arron Rodgers has attracted both affection and disapproval from fans and fellow television hosts alike. While some find it “Touching,” others call him out for his on-air candid behavior. Boston sports radio host Fred Toucher opined, “He’s dropping the facade when he’s talking, this isn’t friendly Greenberg, this is business, Greenberg. Listen to this no-talent pr**k.”
