After a dismal performance last season without even qualifying for the playoffs, Denver Broncos will be looking to keep their recent setbacks in the past and focus on re-surging in the new season of the league. After bringing in a new HC in the form of Sean Payton, the Broncos will be working towards a stronger performance in the coming season. The Broncos signed Russell Wilson in a $245 million contract, but the QB had his career-low performance in his debut for the franchise. He has gone on to bring in a backup for Wilson in the form of Jarrett Stidham, in case Wilson fails to deliver in the 2023 season as well.
Despite fans and the team still keeping their faith in their $245 million QB signing, Sean Payton’s recent dig on Wilson might put his job as QB1 for the team in danger.

In a recent article on NBC Sports, we see Sean Payton engaging with the press in a pre-draft conference ahead of the NFL 2023 Draft starting on April 27. During the press meeting, Payton took a shot at QB Wilson, after he was recently involved in a golf cart accident that could have further aggravated injuries.
Talking about the offseason program, Payton said, “It’s great to see these guys around. Hopefully we can keep the golf carts upright.” Making the statement in a no-nonsensical mood, it seems that Russell Wilson will not be receiving any special treatment in the new season like he did last season. This time, he will be just like the other players, who are trying to make their mark in the league. Being subjected to widespread criticism after his dismal debut performance, maybe this is exactly what the QB needs.
