Taysom Hill has been a fantastic find for the New Orleans Saints this season. He has filled in as the starting quarterback for the Saints while Drew Brees recovers from injury.
With Hill as the starting quarterback, the Saints have won 9 straight games in the NFL and secured their place in the 2021 NFL Playoffs.
Hill has been the driving force behind this Saints team. Many expected them to flounder when star quarterback Drew Brees suffered a major injury this season. But Hill has proven himself to be a more than capable deputy for Brees.

Former NFL player Brandon Marshall spoke on First Things First about Hill’s recent string of good performances. Marshall said that Sean Payton himself pointed out what Hill can do.
“We know who Taysom Hill is. Sean Payton has said it for the last several years, ‘Look, this is an athlete. We put him in positions to be successful not only for himself but also for the team’.”
Taysom Hill stepped up for Brees
Marshall added that it is Hill’s perseverance and determination to make it to the NFL, despite suffering multiple injuries at the collegiate level that makes him special. But it has also hindered his growth slightly, yet he has started to turn his fortunes around.
“But when you think about him as the quarterback, you’ve got to go back to college. This dude had 4 season-ending injuries.
“So he hasn’t been able to develop as a thrower. What you see yesterday, him throwing for 2 touchdowns, 3rd in four-plus, being able to come through.”

Marshall believes that Hill has grown a lot in the time that Brees has been gone, and will be a useful asset to the team even when Brees returns.

“That’s him taking a step in the right direction. That’s what we want from Taysom Hill. Drew Brees goes down, my starting quarterback is down.
“Come in and find a way to win the game. That’s what we want to see. When that starting quarterback comes back in, Taysom Hill will then go back to the athlete.
“He plays tight end, he plays running back, he plays quarterback, he’s on special teams. This is an all utilization-type player.”
