The LA Rams could very well be in trouble after an unexpected injury hits the camp. Matthew Stafford is reportedly suffering from bad elbow tendinitis and is not participating in the training camp drills. Moreover,  HC Sean McVay expressed his thoughts about the injury and what they’re doing in their powers to help Stafford recover.

Although the Rams had a successful offseason by retaining mostly all their Super Bowl-winning players, this news puts a dent in it. The Rams would be hoping to beat the NFC again and emerge as the table toppers however this is a quarterback’s league. In addition, their QB is out of sight because of elbow tendinitis.

According to Sean McVay, the HC of the LA Rams, Stafford is suffering from an ”abnormal” elbow injury. The NFL 2022 season is nearing kickoff and the injury is worrisome for the Rams. Additionally, he is going to sit out training drills as the training camp begins ahead of the pre-season in the second week of August.

In the offseason, the Rams’ QB had to go through a medical procedure. Matthew Stafford wore a brace for a brief period to limit his range of motion while healing. He did not throw during the off-season workouts but is still dealing with the issue leading into training camp.

What did HC Sean McVay say about Stafford’s injury?

Speaking about Matthew’s injury, McVay said, “It’s a little bit abnormal for a quarterback, some of this stuff is things that MLB pitchers deal with, so it is something that we’re kind of learning about on the fly and his feedback.

He added, “We’re really trying to just figure out, ‘OK, how do we get the best plan in place to try to minimize some of the things that he was having to push through,’ while also giving him the confidence that, ‘Hey, I can really just, let it go, not have to worry about it, play to the best of my ability.'”

Although Stafford is sitting out the training drills, McVay is optimistic about his return for regular season games. After all, the HC wouldn’t want his QB to miss out on an entire season because of an abnormal injury.
