Tom Brady and the Bucs’ season has only gotten worse. The QB’s descent into mediocrity this season continues. After an embarrassing loss to the 49ers, Brady has given the NFL world an inclination to believe what they’ve feared for so long. He is undoubtedly the most decorated player in the league. But history aside, the quarterback has done very little to bring back glimpses of his glorious past.

The 49ers’ QB, Brock Purdy made an impressive career start with a win over Tampa Bay and Brady. A disappointing 35-7 loss is not something the Bucs would’ve hoped for given the fact they are very close to losing the top spot in the NFC South. So are the NFL world’s predictions about Brady losing his edge coming true?
Tom Brady doesn’t take sole ownership of the Bucs’ woes
After their humiliating defeat, the seven-time Super Bowl champion did not mince words while speaking about their loss. A somber-looking Brady addressed the media and elaborated on why he thought they lost. The QB also showered some praise on his opponents. He said, “It’s a good football team you know, they’re good, played well today. Brock played really well. They made a bunch of plays offensively on defense and special teams and we didn’t make many offensively, we didn’t make many defensively we didn’t make many on special teams.” TB12 is quite aware of the predicament the Bucs are in.

Not one to shy back from admitting his team’s weaknesses, Brady had more to add. He put their loss in simple terms. “You win because you make plays you keep them from making plays,” he said “They make plays and keep you from making plays you know you lose by you know 28 points.” This loss may also be a tad more painful than the rest given that the Bucs played in San Francisco. Brady, a San Mateo native, was a huge fan of the Niners. That is until he started hating them when they [the 49ers] passed him over in the 2000 NFL draft- something he playfully admitted to previously. But the time for ruminating over the humiliation is long over. The Bucs desperately need to win and the journey ahead is not an easy one. So, where do they stand?
Brady and the Bucs have their work cut out
Tampa Bay slipped to 6-7 after their loss to the 49ers. Despite their dismal record, they are still atop the NFC South. A poorly performing division is the cause of their number-one spot. But, they cannot get too comfortable. The Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons are slowly but steadily closing in at 5-8. Additionally, the Bucs will take on the aforementioned divisional rivals. But their next challenge is one that cannot be taken for granted.

The Buccaneers will face Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals in their next bout. Despite their slow start this season, the Bengals have proven that they are to be feared. At 9-4, they will face the Bucs after four consecutive victories. Two of those include triumphs over the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tennessee Titans. Tampa has put itself in an inescapable situation. A shot at the postseason hangs in the balance. If the Bucs hope to take their division, Brady and his squad need to understand that losing is no longer an option.
