Brison Manor, born on August 10, 1952, in Bridgeton, left an indelible mark on the era of powerful defense. His journey in football began to unfold when he showcased his remarkable talent as a Defensive End. Manor’s passion for the sport led him to transfer to the University of Arkansas, where he had the privilege of learning from Jimmy Johnson, the renowned defensive line coach and future Hall of Famer.

Brison then went on to join the league in 1975 and played for eight seasons. Tragically, on June 20, 2023, Brison Manor passed away, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of football and fond memories among those who witnessed his incredible journey.

Excelling in college as a member of the Razorbacks, Manor caught the attention of the Jets in 1975 but unfortunately did not secure a spot on the team. However, undeterred by this setback, Brison Manor persevered and joined the Broncos in 1976, making significant contributions that helped propel the team to their inaugural Super Bowl appearance in 1977.

He was an important part of their defense, which helped them reach Super Bowl XII. Unfortunately, they lost to the Cowboys 27–10 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. Manor joined Broncos but left in 1984, traded to Buccaneers. He played just six games, then got waived in November 1984.

Throughout his career, Manor displayed dazzling skills, captivating crowds and earning recognition for his exceptional achievements. In 2011, he was honored at the University of Arkansas, and in 2018, he received induction into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. Officially retired from football after that and lived in Arkansas until Brison Manor’s death at 70 years old, on June 20, 2023.

The Denver Broncos are heartbroken by the sudden demise of Brison Manor, their cherished former defensive end.

They shared their grief on Twitter, “We’re saddened by the passing of former Broncos DE Brison Manor, who played for us from 1977-1984. Our organization sends its sincere condolences to the Manor family.”

Defensive Powerhouse of the Orange Crush Era

Late Brison Manor was a proud member of the Orange Crush defense, the legendary Broncos’ defense that ruled the NFL in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He said in 2018, “We’re considered one of the best defenses ever in the NFL,” and that their nickname reflected their excellence. Per Brison, Broncos’ defense was fierce and powerful, and they shut down the opponents’ running game.

“Teams couldn’t run against us at all. We played reckless. We didn’t really care about our bodies. We were flying all over the field. It was a fun time because people were scared of us.” – Brison Manor.

Even mentioned that they played with enthusiasm and vigor and that they did not fear getting hurt. Brison and his teammates had fun playing football, and they struck fear into the other teams.
