Russell Wilson has not achieved what he arrived to do in Denver. The Broncos lost their fourth game in a row on Sunday against a Baltimore Ravens side that played without Lamar Jackson for most of the game. This was Denver’s fifth loss in their last six games and there is a lot of speculation that this has much to do with Wilson’s personal QB coach.

Former NY Jets undrafted free agent and NFL quarterback, Jack Heaps, is Russell Wilson’s personal quarterback coach. Heaps is not a part of the Denver Broncos coaching staff and is on Wilson’s personal payroll. With Russell’s increasing quarterbacking inadequacy since arriving in Colorado, Heaps is finding himself in a considerable negative light.

Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett gave up play-calling responsibilities earlier this season to quarterback coach Klint Kubiak. Kubiak had his offensive play-calling background from his Minnesota Vikings days. However, Russell Wilson spoiled the offense’s strategies when he employed Jack Heaps for his personal coaching. Heaps spent his NFL years with the NY Jets and the Seattle Seahawks where he met Wilson. Jack also played in the CFL for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the BC Lions.

After his retirement from football, Jack Heaps spent time as a radio host on 710 ESPN Seattle before Russell Wilson convinced him to join him at Denver. A few weeks ago, troubling news came from inside the Broncos camp that Russell was using audibles from his Super Bowl-winning days with Seattle Seahawks. As a result, the Denver offense was thoroughly confused when they didn’t understand a single thing Wilson shouted out. This could very well be Heaps’ doing, considering his Seattle connection.

The Denver Broncos are in need of major changes. GM George Paton had different expectations when he signed Russell Wilson on a massive $245 million contract in the offseason. However, Denver ranks last in the league in points per game (13.8). Their offense has scored 10 points or fewer in three of their last four games. On Sunday, Denver let a 9-3 lead go when Baltimore Ravens backup QB Tyler Huntley drove his offense to a last-minute 10-9 comeback win.
