On Thursday, the Denver Broncos management announced that Russell Wilson has agreed to a five-year contract extension. This humongous deal offers him $245 million in salary with $165 million guaranteed money.
This deal makes him the third highest-paid quarterback behind Deshaun Watson of Cleveland ($230 million guaranteed) and Kyler Murray of the Cardinals ($189.5 million guaranteed). Per reports, since his inception, there has been a dramatic change inside the Broncos locker room, and the team doesn’t want to lose it for some offers from other teams.

“In just a few short months with the Broncos, Russell has already had a dramatic effect on this organization both on and off the field,” Broncos general manager George Paton said in a statement. “His leadership, work ethic, and championship mentality have helped elevate our team in partnership with Coach Hackett, his teammates, and the staff,” he added to his explanation.
These words indicate how much the franchise is committed to having Wilson on its side. As soon as the news went public, per Zac Stevens, Wilson said that what matters to him in the first place was the number of Super Bowl titles he earns in the future.
“For me, it wasn’t about how much. It was about how many Super Bowls we’re going to win,” Wilson said about the contract, per Stevens. Not to mention the former Super Bowl champion is an experienced leader and has spent more than nine seasons with the same franchise. He knows what it takes to build a team.
Fans go wild after Russell Wilson agrees to the extension

While this user seemed confused watching Wilson signing an extension even before playing a regular season game for the Broncos.
Russ is 33 years old, hasn’t played a single meaningful snap for Denver, and they sign him an additional 5 year contract to put him through till he’s 40? Make it make sense to me

Another user claimed that the defense is highly overrated.
This guys not even going to win one w/ Broncos. That Defense is mightily overrated.

Wilson’s reaction to the contract seemed familiar, said another user.
Wow that sounds familiar.

Another user believes that Wilson won’t be able to lead a team carrying so much salary.
Zero with that contract. Good luck to you Broncos fans, Russ is good but he isn’t able to carry a team if he’s eating up a quarter of the cap.

glad that Russell Wilson got the bag and I really think they can make some noise in the AFC West I'm picking them over the raiders still think KC wins it but as far as people saying that four teams from the AFC West can get in I think it'impossible from scheduling perspective

One of the prime reasons that make him stand apart is the consistency he brings to the field. During the last 2021 regular season against the Rams, Wilson broke his finger, and it was the first time he missed three games in his entire career.
