The Broncos suffered their seventh loss of the season on Sunday, going down 22-16 against the Raiders. With this performance, they are almost out of playoff contention; however, the management seemed to make adjustments to the roster. The latest one happened to waive a long-time Running Back Melvin Gordon III.

The move came on Monday after the veteran fumbled for the fifth time this season. It nearly cost them a halftime lead and contributed to an overtime loss.
What did Gordon say about the play?
The incident happened just before the Raiders’ 2-yard line, and guard Quinn Meinerz recovered the ball. But unfortunately, on the next play, kicker Brandon McManus’ couldn’t execute the 25-yard field goal, which could have given them a 13-7 lead. “I was sick about it, obviously,” Gordon said after Sunday’s loss.
“I kind of know what comes after that at this point, I shot myself in the foot, I am a little salty because I was feeling it [Sunday]. That happened and I kind of knew that I was going to have to find a way to get back in rhythm,” he added. During the Broncos’ season opener against the Seahawks, Gordon had a similar fumble near the 1-yard line during their 17-16 loss.
Over the last three seasons, Gordon played a pivotal role in the offense. Out of the 41 games, he scored 22 total touchdowns, of which 19 were rushing and three receiving. However, these records were matched by his fumbles, precisely 12, and nine of them got recovered by the opponents. Thus, it is fair to say, the management made their decision after weighing several aspects.
“He’s a true pro, he’s done a lot of good stuff here. We thought it was best for the team, and we moved on and wish him the best of luck, think it’s great for him to have a fresh start,” Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett said after the announcement. Latavius Murray seems to be the next man to replace the veteran.
NFL world reacts to Melvin Gordon getting waived
Since Javonte Williams suffered a season-ending knee injury, the Broncos had to rely on prospects available in the market. Moreover, head coach Nathaniel Hackett is supervising a major revamp inside the locker room, viewing a long run. However, fans don’t seem to have accepted the latest move.

While the management is undertaking several replacements, the quarterback position also happens to be a matter of worry. Although Russell Wilson was acquired with high expectations, he failed miserably. Further updates on this matter are yet to arrive.
