Russell Wilson joining the Denver Broncos is perhaps one of the biggest news to come out of this offseason. But the day he left Washington, the Seahawks also released another star player. Seattle has parted ways with their inside linebacker Bobby Wagner. They took this decision to save $16.6 million in salary-cap space.

Some recent developments indicate towards the reunion for both these former Seahawks players. Reports say that the new Broncos quarterback is trying to recruit Bobby Wagner. This could be a major step in rebuilding the Denver squad because there is an opening for a linebacker.

Russell Wilson trying to get Bobby Wagner onboard

Both Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner have a lot in common. The Seattle Seahawks picked both the athletes during the 2012 draft. They were part of the Super Bowl-winning team. Wilson and Wagner have played together for almost a decade and have a whopping 17 Pro Bowl selections combined. It is no surprise that the quarterback wants to bring the linebacker to his new team.

Last week, the Seahawks made Wagner a free agent after they released him. Jeremy Fowler from ESPN reported that Wilson is trying to improve the Broncos roster by getting his former teammate in. “Russell Wilson isn’t officially a Bronco yet, but he’s doing his best to improve the roster — by recruiting Bobby Wagner to play with him in Denver, per sources.” Fowler adds, “Former teammates that played 10 years together in Seattle could reunite.”

Despite there being an expansive market for the LB, a move to Denver will be exciting. The Broncos and the Seahawks fans would love to see Wilson and Wagner play on the same side together.
