It’s a merry time in the Wilson household. Quarterback Russell Wilson‘s off-season mood has been delightful ever since the Denver Broncos roped in Sean Payton. And now his wife, Ciara, just released her much anticipated single number ‘Da Girls.’

The ‘JUMP’ singer had been teasing fans with snippets and posters from the new single, ultimately releasing it in its entirety on March 24. Ciara’s QB husband was visibly excited and shared multiple stories on his Instagram stories, following the release. Ci Ci even posted the music video and social media dance routine. While the song received its deserved adulation, the R&B Grammy winner also faced a few plagiarism accusations.

Produced by Derrick Milano, OG Parker, Romano, Tenroc, and Mike Woods, Ciara’s new song ‘Da Girls’ was released under her own production label, Beauty Marks Entertainment. The singer dedicated the bass-heavy track to women’s empowerment. And she couldn’t have timed the song release any better than Women’s History Month.

Da Girls’ is a female empowerment anthem that celebrates the strength and resiliency of women all over the world. It speaks life into the endless possibilities of a woman on a mission,” Ciara said about her latest song, after her last songs ‘Jump’ and ‘Better Thangs’ from 2022. And she definitely shut the toxicity following the flak her Vanity Fair Oscar’s dress received.

Former Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson wasn’t the only one ecstatic about the news. Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin also dropped a like on the all-woman lineup in her music video, directed by Sara Lacombe. “AYYYYYE! Our 2023 anthem is here,” one fan replied. Another said, “Ciara is an icon.” “This song is so addictive,” one wrote.

The song also received its fair share of criticism

Even before the release, when Ciara had just launched an opening stanza teaser with the lines, “Get that money, sis. Keep them on the tip. They be tryna press you but you ain’t pressed on it / I’m way too fine to be inside, I’m outside / Having my own sh*t, booking my own trips / Don’t ever let ‘еm disrespect you and call you out your name,” the hate had already started rolling in.

Fans tore into the 37-year-old songwriter’s choice of words surrounding independent womanhood, especially since she is happily married with two kids to Russ, and has another son from her previous relationship with rapper Future. However, one fan perfectly shut the haters. “If Beyonce can drop single ladies and run the world literally all about women and independence while married, Ciara can most definitely drop whatever she feels. Being married doesn’t mean your independence ends,” she wrote.

Some fans also accused Ciara of getting influenced a bit too much by Beyonce’s song ‘7/11’. “This video reminds me of the 7/11 video,” one fan commented. However, overall, the response has been overwhelming for the mother-of-three. And the celebrations are surely in order.
