There was a time when Cam Newton was considered one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL. He was even pitched as Tom Brady’s replacement in the New England Patriots. But recently, the career of the athlete has spiraled down. Once, an MVP quarterback could now settle for a backup role.

There is no denying the amazing talents of Newton, though. Some teams can still use his experience and on-field IQ. Despite him kind of moving away from the limelight, a few clubs are still showing interest in the quarterback. Cam Newton could be a suitable replacement for their legacy QBs.

2015 was the best year for the athlete. “Super Cam” won the Bert Bell Award along with another Pro Bowl selection. He also won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the coveted NFL Most Valuable Player. In 2020, the Patriots brought him in as a replacement for Tom Brady, who had left the franchise for the Buccaneers. Big things were expected from the QB. But he could not deliver. Newton came back to Carolina after his short visit to New England. The 32-year-old has not been able to perform at a level he once did.

“I think I’ve proved to the people I need to prove to my worth, my value,” said Newton. “Me answering this now, just a day removed from the season, I don’t know what that looks like. But can I tell you, do I have a lot of football [left], do I want to play? Yeah. But under the right conditions.”
