Urban Meyer, the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, once again finds himself under heavy criticism. According to the NFL Network, in recent weeks, tensions between Meyer and Jaguars players and coaches have reached a new high. These tensions are raising the possibility of Meyer getting fired after just one season in Jacksonville.

Although, Shad Khan, the owner of the Jaguars, has no plans to make a change anytime soon. Meyer, on the other hand, is said to have made public statements to players and fellow coaches. He is blaming them for the team’s 2-10 start.

The Jacksonville head coach allegedly had a heated disagreement with wide receiver Marvin Jones during practice in the last two weeks resulting in the coach’s public and private criticism of receivers.

Head coach Urban Meyer is giving the Jacksonville Jaguars a tough time

The NFL Network stated that Meyer sent a “biting message” to the squad, saying that “he’s a winner” and “his assistant coaches are losers.” While citing numerous people who were briefed on the issue addressed during a meeting, Meyer is said to have individually confronted each coach. He pushed them to explain why they had never won and forced them to defend their résumé.

Since their Week 7 bye, the Jaguars have lost four straight games and five of their last six, averaging just 10.7 points per game. Last week, top running back James Robinson was benched against the Los Angeles Rams, and rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence has shown no improvement since the season began. With 2,514 throwing yards, nine touchdowns, and ten interceptions, he has a 58 percent completion record.

The Jaguars went on to win two of their next four games. Snapping a 20-game losing run and giving Meyer his first NFL victory over the Dolphins in London, before shocking the Bills 9-6 three weeks later. They haven’t won since then. The Jaguars are now ranked 30th in the NFL in terms of attendance, despite having a high-profile coach.
