While there is no evidence of either the suspension or its duration, some sources have been speculating about it based on the rumors on various mediums, none of which could be verified.
How important is Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns in 2022?
Houston Texans traded Watson to the Cleveland Browns in March 2022 on a five-year, $230 million dollar deal. One of the probable reasons the Browns brought him in from the Texans at a significant investment was to replace Baker Mayfield, the current starting QB.

Cleveland’s investment in Watson shows the high value they place on the quarterback and they would like to ensure that he remains available to the team throughout the season.
Keeping in mind the probability that Baker Mayfield may not start, Watson himself would lead the Browns’ offense. The importance of QB to the Browns’ performance during the 2022 season would not be lost on its management. This is even more true since the Browns have been looking to trade Baker Mayfield after the QB had a poor 2021 season.

Watson’s career so far
The Houston Texans drafted Watson in the first round of the 2017 Draft. After an injury-ravaged rookie season, he guided the Texans to consecutive division titles in 2018 and 2019. He also led the league in passing yards in 2020.

Watson received Pro Bowl honors while a starter at the Texans. He also has the highest career completion percentage of all time and is second in all-time career passer rating. Watson was out because of injury for the entire 2021 season. As a result, the Texans traded him to the Cleveland Browns in early 2022.
