For any professional league, a governing body and a commissioner are very important. While the NBA has Adam Silver, MLB has Robert D. Manfred Jr. and the NFL has Roger Goodell. Goodell has been one of the cornerstones of the NFL, with almost 2 decades worth of service. He has picked up the duties of governing the NFL smoothly and has taken it to the heights of being a very profitable organization. And he just might continue doing so. But what about his own worth?
With his contract coming to an end, it seems like Goodell might be looking at a wealthy contract extension. Interestingly, the commissioner has already earned a huge amount from his time in the NFL position. And he might be set to earn more.

Goodell has served one of the longest stints as the commissioner, coming up to 17 years now. He started off in 2006 and, since then, has turned into the face of the league. He took over for Paul Tagliabue in 2006 and had his contract extended in 2009, 2012, and 2017.
Since his most recent extension, he has helped secure media rights deals with CBS, NBC, Fox, ESPN, and Amazon. The total of all of these deals is equivalent to a whopping $110 billion. After such achievements, it would make sense that the Colts owner, Jim Irsay confirmed that they will be extending the commissioner’s contract until 2027.
With the kind of achievements he has made, it is very likely that he will be offered an extension. It remains to be seen if he’ll go on to accept it or pass on the baton to the next commissioner in line.
