Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski was once in deep hot water among fans following a segment with legendary TV host Steve Harvey. Gronk and Harvey were part of the 2020 New Year’s Eve celebration, where Harvey had an impressive LEGO bust of himself. However, during the broadcast, the 4-time Super Bowl champion proceeds to destroy the bust into a hundred pieces with his signature touchdown celebration in front of Harvey.

While fans were perplexed at what had transpired, Harvey, on the air, appeared having a breakdown after the shattering of his bust. Harvey reacting to seeing the incident shocked on-air, states, “Are you serious? I don’t wanna work with him no more. Why is he here? Why are you here?

It split the fans online, with some enjoying the moment while others called Gronk out for being insensitive towards Harvey.

But it turns out that the whole ordeal was just a skit for Harvey to get rid of the artifact in the easiest way possible. He revealed some details about the night after talking to TMZ, stating, “That was an act, man. Gronk’s a cool dude. I like him. My wife ain’t gonna let me put no LEGO statue of myself up in our house, anyway. Yeah, it was going to be in the trash.

It was the former Patriots TE helping Harvey, who was never going to hold any grudges towards Gronk but was presenting some convincing acting. Since then, the LEGO Gronk Spike was all in good fun and something that was part of Gronk’s work after retiring early on following Super Bowl LIII. Apart from co-hosting the New Year’s Eve celebration, he made appearances during the Thursday night NFL games with FOX.

It was Gronk’s foray into life in the entertainment industry after leaving football in 2019. He tried to make appearances at every opportunity. The former TE was enjoying his year off and living life before he came out of retirement.

He would later win Super Bowl LV with best friend and QB Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020.

However, as a new NFL season beckons in 2022, Rob Gronkowski has announced his retirement for the second time in his NFL career. While he has been hinting at staying retired after the 2021 season, Brady will again be without his favorite TE in the upcoming season. Fans will miss Gronk and his electrifying presence on the field but will remember his achievements in an illustrious NFL career.
