Rob Gronkowski recently appeared on the latest episode of ‘Man in the Arena’. The former New England Patriots tight end talked about the time when he was penalized for a late hit to the Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White during a game in 2017 mid-week. However, the 32-year-old shockingly revealed that it was much of a happy moment for him, instead of being disappointed.
“I just got suspended a week, and I was happy, I was finally happy,” Gronkowski said on Tuesday’s episode of Man in the Arena. “I was like, ‘Yes, I’m away from football for a week and I get to recover my body.'”

Later Gronk revealed it was much needed for him to recover from all the grind that “was taking a toll” on him. Gronkowski was drafted by the Patriots in 2010 and, as he recalls, the Patriots had a very “eerie” atmosphere during the 2017 season. Furthermore, he revealed that he and some of his teammates “weren’t really having a good time.”
According to Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski was getting called for a lot of penalties during the games. “Our own team started getting on Gronk for that and Gronk was like, ‘I’m just trying to play ball,'” Brady added.

Rob Gronkowski on getting called for Tre’Davious White hit
Gronks already had a lot of frustration in his mind when he entered the Week 13 division showdown against the Buffalo Bills. The tight end was filled with bullsh*t to the brim, and then came the controversial tackle. “I was just getting held again. Going in on the in route, I got held. Coming back out, held me. And boom, there was no flag,” Gronkowski recalled.
And with that, out came the agitation, and out came the frustration. Gronkowski dropped an elbow to Tre’Davious White, who ended up getting concussed. Following the incident, the tight end publicly apologized to White. And was also handed a one-week suspension. But little did the league know that in his mind, Gronk was just flipping with happiness.

And then, as history has it, the week off did pay off. The tight end made nine receptions for 168 yards against the Steelers in Week 15. However, that season in the end came out as a big turnoff for the Patriots since they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 52.
