Rob Gronkowski is one of the greatest players to ever play. With his years of experience within the league, the TE has seen nearly everything within the confines of the hundred yards. But, even Gronk was left scratching his head with Las Vegas Raiders’ surprising decision this offseason. Raiders HC Joshua McDaniels pulled the plug on one of the most questionable moves this offseason, which left many, including Gronk, astonished.
McDaniels himself was the OC for the Patriots during Gronk’s days with the championship-winning dynastic New England team. But his decision to part ways with one of the Raiders’ most prised assets has certainly caused many to raise their eyebrows.

Las Vegas traded Darren Waller to New York Giants earlier this offseason in what was a somewhat shocking move. Waller has the upside to be one of the most enterprising players in the league. But the Raiders moved on from him with an especially underwhelming trade package which saw them receive the 100th pick in this season’s draft. In an interview with FanDuel TV’s ‘Up & Adams’, Gronkowski revealed his thoughts on the move.
“When I saw Darren Waller go, I was kind of very surprised because I just know how much Joshua McDaniels loves to use tight ends in his system. So I can’t believe he made that trade, actually,” Gronk said.

As a TE himself, Gronk knows the ins and outs of the McDaniels coaching scheme. So the trade certainly came as a surprise to him, knowing the capabilities of Waller within the Raiders offense. Gronk certainly has a lot of faith in Waller’s potential, even though the latter has been subject to a few injuries over the last two seasons, which have derailed his career. But all is not lost for Waller after the trade, in Gronks eyes.

Darren Waller unites with yet another former Gronk coach
The Giants are currently coached by HC Brian Daboll. Daboll himself is another former coach of Gronk’s. So he certainly has high expectations from Waller within the Giants’ new offense. As the 4-time Super Bowl Champ recalled on the show, “He actually went to my other coach, Brian Daboll, with the New York Giants, and he loves to use tight ends even more… Daboll is gonna find a way to use them, utilize his skill set like no other.”
Gronk feels that Waller has the potential to end up having a massive season for the Giants this year. In fact, he even claimed that Waller might end up having a Pro Bowl season with his newfound position on the team. That’s certainly a big claim to make, but who better to judge the capabilities of a TE than perhaps the greatest TE ever?
