The New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is one of the most successful coaches in the NFL. One of the prime reasons is his self-discipline and ability to imbibe similar qualities into the players, no matter how great they are.

Recently, an incident was narrated by the former Patriots offensive guard Rich Ohrnberger portraying Bill Belichick as a strict coach and how that fear haunted him to crash his car as an excuse for getting late.

Indeed, the veteran revealed that he literally crashed his car to give Belichick a reason for getting late for the practice sessions. While speaking in an interview for a radio show, Ohrnberger gave a flashback to his days at Patriots. He explained that one day he got up late in the morning.

“I am frantic. I don’t even bother looking at the clock, I know I’m late.” he started narrating the entire scenario. “I’m gonna be 10 minutes late for this day. I have this sinking feeling in my stomach like, ‘I’m gonna be cut. [Belichick’s] not gonna have me on this football team come tomorrow. What do I do?’” He explained, saying that a series of thoughts crossed his mind.

Ultimately, the only way he thought was to hit a van he saw midway in a nearby church. The veteran said that black smoke was coming out of the exhaust pipe, and it was the right time to crash the car. He gathered all his courage and bang! The guy crashed his car, and fortunately, no one got injured.

Ohrnberger admitted he paid the elderly man for his actions. “It’s better to pay the insurance than embarrass myself by being late for a Patriots team meeting.” The offensive lineman narrates the incident.

The above story explains how bossy Belichick is on the field. His actions and words prove how adamant he is while taking decisions. Even though the training camps have officially begun, the franchise hasn’t announced an offensive play caller for the upcoming season.

While rumors were floating around of Matt Patricia and Joe Judge as the potential prospects to decorate the position, Belichick quashed all the speculations recently through a press conference.
