The 6x Pro Bowler cornerback for the Los Angeles Rams, Eddie Meador, took his last breath Monday. The 86-year-old NFL legend lived and breathed football, and exemplified unwavering dedication to his family. The ATU Wonder Boy was drafted back in 1959 in round 7 and played a total of 12 seasons with the Fearsome Foresome. With a hall-of-fame-worthy resume, the NFL star amassed an impressive amount of accolades in his career.

Meador has been fighting severe health complications for the last few months. Roman Gabriel, his former teammate, shared his heartfelt condolences on social media.

The 6x Pro Bowler retired from pro football, half a century back, yet he’s still the record-holder with an impressive 46 interceptions, which is still the Rams’ franchise record. He also managed to recover 18 defensive fumbles and block 10 kicks, which are nothing short of applauding. His son, Dave, shared with Clerk Judge that the former NFL star passed away surrounded by family. He also mentioned how the family is proud of his football accomplishments, but even prouder of the person he was to them and many.

Meador’s teammate, Roman Gabriel, expressed his feelings about the sad loss. He affectionately called his ex-teammate “Mouse” and said that he was not only a great teammate but also a genuinely good person. Gabriel also mentioned that Meador was the backbone of their defense and held the team together for many years. Lastly, he insisted that Meador should be in the Hall of Fame.

After the loss of this NFL legend, the community came together to show love and support to the family and friends.

The 1969 NFL MVP posted about his teammate’s unexpected passing, and it quickly gathered a crowd of fans showing their love and support for the family during this tough time. Some fans also agreed with Roman that Meador truly deserved a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Hours before sharing his feelings, Roman took to Twitter to write, “Rest in Peace, Eddie Meador 🙏,” and a few hours later, he made the Hall of Fame argument, which got a lot of praise from the NFL community.

In the comments, one fan wrote, “He deserved so much better.

Another fan said, “damn- still Rams all time INT leader and member of the NFL all 1960’s team RIP.

A fan expressed their love with, “He was a good one. 😢”

Lastly, another fan insisted that Meador should be in the Hall of Fame, adding, “He should have been in the H.O.F.
