Jets fans can sit up straight as there is some fresh Aaron Rodgers update after weeks of nothing. After a month of his appearance on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’, where he announced his intention to play for the Gang Green, the progress has been next to nothing. However, that changed yesterday as Green Bay Packers and the Jets reopened the negotiations after a long period of dormancy in the trade talks.
As the NFL draft day closes in, the sense of urgency to get Aaron Rodgers behind the center is maximizing with each passing day for the Gang Green. And according to NFL Network Insider, Ian Rapoport, fans in the Metropolis can expect some news, good or bad, by the end of this week.

Every Aaron Rodgers headline since the end of the 2022-23 season has indicated that A-Rod wants to don a fresh green this season. The Jet Green. However, it’s been just that. A verbal commitment post a sit-down in Malibu with the Jets’ ownership. What’s holding the deal? The ideal compensation package for the 39-year-old veteran passer. The Packers have already put their chips in the Jordan Love slot, but they still want to improve their chances on Draft Day with some clever manoeuvring around the Rodgers trade saga.
“After a dormant couple of weeks, the Jets and the Packers recently re-engaged on trade talks surrounding star QB Aaron Rodgers, sources say. A deal is not imminent, but the two sides are at least talking- with hopes a deal can finally be done this week,” Rapoport tweeted.

Is there any cause for concern for the Jets fanbase?
The New York Jets want more guarantees. They have obvious concerns about Rodgers’ age and longevity. And surely, a lot of future draft picks involved in this trade will be conditional, purely based on the success, the New York franchise attains with their new old quarterback. Things didn’t exactly work out in Denver Broncos-Russell Wilson’s move from Seattle. And franchises have understandably grown a bit weary of this after a disastrous first season. The Jets are better than the Broncos with a strong defensive unit (4th in points allowed and yards allowed last season) and a talented young core in the offense, led by Offensive Rookie of the Year WR Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall.
Finances have been another issue for the Jets. With only $8.6 million cap room available this offseason, Woody Johnson’s organization will have to offload a few more pieces to fit in the 4x league MVP. And maybe Super Bowl champion Aaron Rodgers can finally end the post-season drought for the Gang Green, one the team has stewed in since 2010.
