Bob Condotta recently tweeted out and cleared out the air on rumors regarding Newton. He wrote, “My understanding is that any report of the Seahawks being interested in Cam Newton isn’t accurate. They were last year when Russell Wilson got hurt, but my understanding is they aren’t right now. Newton is currently a free agent.”
According to a source, the Seahawks had communicated with Cam Newton last year. Russell Wilson was injured at the time, and Newton had yet to sign with the Panthers. The Seahawks are now possibly left without a replacement for Russell Wilson.
Seattle now has Geno Smith and Drew Lock as their primary quarterbacks for next season. The starting quarterback isn’t decided yet, but the Seahawks will likely stick with them for this season and bring a quality quarterback next season.
