Every NFL fan would remember the 2022 offseason as a wild ride. The period had some monumental moments, but the Russell Wilson trade was like a bombshell for everyone. Eventually, speculations over the quarterback and the Seattle Seahawks arose about both parties having a fissure. Recently, new reports confirm when and how the rift began that led to the Broncos trade.

Before the blockbuster trade and DangeRuss’ mega departure, the quarterback and the franchise made it look like a healthy reciprocation for an athlete. Both parties made it look like their split was amicable. However, some reports suggest there is far more to it than meets the eye, as Russell Wilson was forlorn with some of the Seahawks’ moves.

 

As per ESPN, Seattle Seahawks GM John Schneider showed up at Patrick Mahomes’ pro day in 2017. He then visited Josh Allen’s Wyoming pro day a year after evaluating Mahomes. His attendance to scout potential franchise quarterbacks drew suspicions among spectators. It also stirred feelings within Wilson’s camp. A front-office insider mentioned, “They were f***ing pissed.”

The Asterisk’s counsel came to the clearest sign that Seattle’s involvement in other QBs was more than just curiosity. Moreover, the report suggests that before the 2018 draft; the Seahawks approached the Cleveland Browns about trading Wilson for the No. 1 overall draft pick. It further led to the QB securing a four-year, $140 million extension.

Eventually, the Broncos trade took place, and Robot Russell jetted off to Denver. Now, the QB will open Week 1 against his former team. It would be an attractive matchup to watch as the rivalry gets more intense.

Russell Wilson is a true Super Bowl-caliber quarterback. In ten seasons with the Seahawks, he qualified for the playoffs eight times and made it to the Super Bowl not just once but twice. Now that the QB is in a new spot, he might have substantial responsibilities in leading the franchise as the quarterback. The only thing the Broncos need to have is an excellent offensive line.

Wilson has never garnered a vote cast for NFL MVP. But he built up some strong stats over his tenure. Wilson could have already given the Seahawks his all, but at 33 years old, he might still have enough left to showcase. Will the new Broncos QB make it to the playoffs? It is subject to witness.
