Monday marked a dark day in College football. The legendary college football coach, Mike Leach passed away in what was quite shocking news. Coach Mike breathed his last under medical supervision as he was airlifted to a hospital approximately a hundred miles away from his residence. The late Mississippi State head coach was in his third year with the bulldogs and even attended a practice session on Saturday. Not even a week after his death, reports emerge of unethical behavior from coaches across the league.

Coach Mike was at a practice session for the bulldogs on Saturday. In just about 48 hours time from his last visual, he passed away citing some complications with his heart. The legendary coach was 61 years old.

End of an era

The bulldogs’ officials announced coach Leach’s passing. It was a shocker for the entire Mississippi campus as his greatness echoed throughout their campus. Even though he was just in his third year with the bulldogs, his legacy forever has been unmatched.

Coach Leach also attracted top high school recruits, as everyone wanted to play his brand of football, owing to his greatness in college football.

However, reports emerged that, while close friends, family, and the bulldogs’ football family still mourn the passing of their icon, some college coaches are trying to milk the situation to their advantage. 

Sudden death of Mike Leach brings out poor behavior from other coaches

A popular Mississippi state insider, Steve Robertson, highlighted what was going on in college football. Post the tragic passing of coach Mike, rival coaches look to capitalize on the moment according to him. He took to Twitter to inform the world what was going on behind the scenes. “Getting some reports of some college coaches working through third parties to try and get some Mississippi State football players to enter the transfer portal. If you’re doing this, then you are a disgusting human being. If I get evidence to support this, I will make you famous,” tweeted Robertson.

With a forced change in coaching staff for the bulldogs, other college coaches are trying to get some of the bulldogs’ players on the transfer portal. A change in coaching staff enables players to do get on the transfer list. However, other coaches using this as an opportunity to sign prime talent is just unethical and uncalled for.

Coach Leach was in his 22nd season as head coach for the third team in his career. His players should honor his legacy by not falling into the traps of other coaches. Though he won’t be around, the bulldogs will keep working to honor his legacy.
