NFL franchise New England Patriots seem to be spending their time and money on finding young players. The franchise is reportedly in the market for wide receivers in free agency this offseason. The wideouts shortlist includes names like Allen Robinson II, DJ Chark, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard, and Jakeem Grant.

The need for a player in that position seems to arise from the evidence of not having a receiver who can record 1000 yards for the past two seasons. The team hasn’t managed to break that barrier since the departure of former Patriots and legendary NFL QB Tom Brady.
They do possess some quality in that department with WR Jakobi Meyers leading them in each of their past two seasons.
Myers has been improving each season while recording 729 receiving yards in 2020 and 866 receiving yards in 2021. But Myers can’t be considered a long-term solution since he has only recorded 2 TDs in 3 seasons in New England. They have solved one part of their problem with young QB Mac Jones. He has shown the potential of greatness but will need weapons to catch his passes.
New England Patriots finding solutions to remaining problems
Head coach Bill Belichick and his QB will undoubtedly need some upgrades if they are going to challenge the Buffalo Bills, who are the AFC East champions. It has been two years running for the Patriots, who will be frustrated having been accustomed to winning the division in the past. The franchise from their shortlist will be keeping a close eye on Robinson, who would likely make the biggest immediate impact as he is the best free-agent wideout available.
The former Bears wideout has exceeded 1,000 yards nearly three times in his career. It will be an encouraging sign for Belichick to get into action. DJ Chark presents the Patriots with another option, as he is much younger than Robinson.

Belichick is well known to extract the best out of players who are unknown quantities like legendary QB Tom Brady. All the players they will be looking to bring in are individuals who were QB-deprived in their former teams. But with Mac Jones controlling things from the pocket, the rumored new arrivals will enjoy a new lease of life.
