The move comes just a few days after Hill was acquired by the team, in a blockbuster trade from the Kansas City Chiefs. And since the salary cap is an issue and having a player like Hill on their side, Dolphins can look for other options in the trade market.

DeVante Parker’s move from the Miami Dolphins

The news was initially broken by Adam Schefter, on Saturday. The rare trade between AFC rivals seemed pretty helpful for both teams. In exchange for Parker and a 2022 fifth-round draft pick, Dolphins received a 2023 third-round pick and a considerable salary space.

Parker was destined to receive base salaries of $5.65 million in 2022 and $5.7 million in 2023; according to the three-year contract extension he signed with the Dolphins. However, the last two years in the contract assured no guaranteed money, and the Patriots were willing to inherit the salary burden on them.

Parker first ventured into the NFL world with the help of the Miami Dolphins in 2015. He was the first-round pick of that year’s draft and was granted a contract extension in 2019. In his overall career, Parker played in 93 games with 64 starts, totaling 338 receptions for 4,727 yards. He had made 24 touchdowns so far. These records made him the sixth-leading receiver of all time for the Dolphins.

However, the 2019 season was pretty tough for him to accomplish his task in the team. His performance stumbled a lot, facing several health issues. This made him stay away from nine combined games and record career-low yardages. With this trade, Miami will now have two first-round picks, a second-rounder, and two third-rounders in the 2023 NFL draft.

Parker might prove to be a treasure for the Patriots!

Even though the star wide receiver has been struggling a lot these days, the Patriots line-up might help HIm get back to the driver’s seat again. Parker’s entry will strengthen the current receiver corps consisting of players like Kendrick Bourne, Nelson Agholor, Jakobi Meyers, N’Keal Harry, and Ty Montgomery.

Also, Parker’s bond with the Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has been far-reaching. They have both known each other very well since the beginning of 2015. “He’s got a very, very good skill set. He’s a big athlete that runs well, has good hands, good run-after-the-catch ability, and good quickness for his size.” Belichick had once heaped praises for the WR before a game against the Dolphins in 2020.
