On Thursday, a new lawsuit has been filed in Texas against the NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson who is currently under suspension. The passer is accused by a woman named Jana Doe, per The Washington Post, with the same charges filed by 20 other women in the past, which eventually led to his suspension and other disciplinary actions. Her attorney, Anissah Nguyen, revealed that more victims are coming to light, and several lawsuits will follow.
“My client’s experience with Deshaun Watson follows a series of disturbingly similar encounters reported by more than 20 women who have filed suit against the NFL superstar,” Nguyen said in an email per Pro Football Talk.
“Like so many others, my client spent nearly two years struggling to cope with trauma from all that he stole from her, and the daily pain that has become her reality,” she added in her note, explaining that the situation is going to get worse for the passer in coming days.
The note also claims that the previous victims inspired her client to come forward and seek justice. The incident that the lady was narrating about happened in 2020, according to the post.
After settling several such cases outside the court, Watson was recently under NFL scrutiny for further actions by the league. The NFL and NFLPA together proposed to give him an 11-game suspension and a $5 million fine. Watson reportedly violated the league’s personal conduct policy.
How did the NFL react to the allegations against Deshaun Watson?
The recent allegations were certainly a shocker for the fans who thought everything was over. They imagined Watson taking on his former team, Houston Texans, in his first game. However, the situation might go south later on, even if the passer manages to play this season.
