Las Vegas Raiders have made some valuable developments in the franchise. With the addition of Dave Ziegler as the General Manager, Josh McDaniels as the head coach; and some notable assistant coaching personnel reportedly joining the Raiders coaching staff; Thus, they are getting into the new season with an innovative team and one of the best-in-class coaches. However, the management seeks to keep Derek Carr as well.

Reportedly, the Raiders may also carry out some big-money extensions; one of them being quarterback Carr, who is in the concluding year of his ongoing contract. Coach McDaniels has some interest in having the QB back in the squad, as he stated in a press conference that he has faith in Derek, as he has the capability and the capacity to win.

Derek Carr in the $40 Mil Club?

There are immense possibilities that QB Derek Carr may receive a contract extension offer; estimated to be a whopping $40 Million per season after his current contract lapses. As per Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, stated the following on Twitter:

“As it relates to Derek Carr and the [Raiders], the sense is no proposals have been exchanged yet on an extension. You’ll see various numbers being thrown around, but, as I’ve been reporting, any extension would likely be in the $40m per season range.”

He further tweeted: “So, if it’s a two-year deal at $40m per year, when you factor in the 2021 salary it would be three years, $100m.

The 30-year-old athlete capped off a well-performed season with 4,804 yards and 23 touchdowns, with 14 interceptions and 94 RTG as per stats. the team has 4 back-to-back triumphs until the Wild Card session. Derek was the second-round pick in the 2014 draft by the Las Vegas Raiders and is a 3-time Pro Bowler.

Even though the teams’ season ended after a loss against the Cincinnati Bengals in the Wild Card round; They had a good season having Carr as the starting quarterback. With the dynamic changes happening in the franchise, the team looks to have a strong upcoming season ahead.
