The Greenbay Packers haven’t been close to the team they have been in the last two seasons. This year has been full of struggles as they battled through injury and lack of form. With Aaron Rodgers being hurt for a lot of the season and playing through the injury, the NFL MVP from the last two seasons has been below average in guiding his team to glory.

The Packers weren’t in action this past weekend as they had their bye week. However, they are 5-8 for the year so far. With 3 of their 4 remaining games being against opponents with better records than them, the CheeseHeads will most likely end the season without a playoff run.

Though the 39-year-old is at the closing end of his career, he hasn’t talked of retirement and it doesn’t seem to be a part of his plans in the near future.

Rodgers has been playing through a thumb injury he picked up earlier in the season. The Packers have not been the same since he picked on the injury. The determined QB has been playing with a broken thumb and hasn’t sat out for this injury. However, in their recent bashing against the Eagles, A-Rod went off the field due to an injury. His deputy, Jordan Love, took over during the second half of the game.

This showing from Love was much better than the time he took the field for Rodgers in 2021. In his minimal showing against the Eagles, Love completed 6 of his 9 attempted passes. He threw for a touchdown. Rodgers threw for 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions during this game. Love covered almost the same number of passing yards, while he had a better pass completion percentage.

Love was drafted in 2020 by the Packers and has been Rodgers’ deputy since. An insider at the Green Bay camp revealed that Love was not interested in being the deputy for much longer. “I think he very clearly, even though he wouldn’t flat-out say it, he does not want to sit for another year. So, if we get to year four, and Rodgers does come back, I am fairly confident that he will seek a trade,” said the insider.

Rodgers recently signed a $150 million 3-year contract extension. Next season will mark just the second year of this contract. With this in place and Love looking for game minutes, it might be Love’s last season in Wisconsin.
