Brock Purdy has become ‘the new talk of the town’ QB for Niners fans. And he has done it all with his perfect throws on the field. The last few weeks have called for unanimous praise of the 23-year-old’s abilities. And now, the NFL world is divided on the question of who, between Purdy and Jimmy Garoppolo, will start for the Niners in the next match.
After being under the radar, Purdy is deserving of all the praise he’s been receiving. But as the NFL rejoices at the emergence of a one-of-kind talent, the veterans are being forgotten. Or are they being purposefully ignored?

Jimmy Garoppolo was unable to play his role as the San Francisco 49ers’ QB1. After suffering a foot injury in December, the quarterback has been missing in action. Garoppolo’s absence prompted the Niners to turn to ‘Mr Irrelevant’ and the last pick of the draft, Brock Purdy.
The Athletic’s Matt Barrows had a chance to interact with the injured QB and inquired about the status of his injury. Barrows tweeted, “I spoke with my Garoppolo today. He said he can do everything on his still-mending foot but sprint. I asked if he’s on track to be available should the 49ers make it to the SB. He smiled and said that’s still up in the air.”

Despite Garoppolo being more experienced, the Niners are likely to stick with Purdy for the remainder of the postseason, even if the former makes a recovery. As a starter, Jimmy G did a decent job in leading his team. However, if the 49ers take the NFC title, they might still let their rookie wonder worker be at the helm for Super Bowl LVII.

Is Purdy the Niners’ permanent solution?
The 49ers will not want to jinx Brock Purdy’s incredible run even if Jimmy G makes a total recovery. The team hasn’t lost a single game since the rookie sensation took over. Purdy has made himself at home as their starting quarterback.
Will Purdy’s rise to the top threaten Garoppolo’s future with the Niners? With the QB hitting free agency, the likelihood is hard to ignore. The Niners are set to take on Jalen Hurtz and the Philadelphia Eagles. With the NFC championship and potential Super Bowl title on the line, neither team will hesitate from giving it their all. The NFL world will look forward to what promises to be an interesting faceoff between two QBs who have a history.
