Odell Beckham Jr. stirred the NFL world last year after jumping in and out of trade speculation. While the talented WR hasn’t been able to make an announcement regarding his future, the interest from teams has driven the discourse. But, the Dallas Cowboys, who looked like the frontrunners in the race to acquire OBJ, dropped an update that shook things up on the trade front.
In the last few days, the NFL Twitterverse was buzzing after OBJ stepped into the conversation to dismantle rumors that indicated that he was looking for a lofty sum. And then the Cowboys finally made the announcement that fans were expecting. However, their offensive acquisition was not Odell Beckham Jr. So, who did the Cowboys acquire, and does this move indicate the end of their long-drawn speculation concerning OBJ?

Former Houston Texans receiver Brandin Cooks is now a Cowboy. A Sunday morning update shed light on the reported $12 million (for 2023) and two late-round draft picks for the franchise’s acquisition of Cook. Does this solidify the fact that the team will now give up on their reported talks with OBJ?

The Cowboys’ roster is far from weak at this point. With WRs CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, and Brandin Cooks, there seems to be no shortage of talent. While OBJ came close to signing a contract with the franchise late last year, the updates on his ACL injury were concerning, inadvertently pushing the conversation to a later date.
At present, OBJ seems to be waiting for the right deal to come his way. While heading to the Cowboys may have been ideal, given their avid interest and the fact that his fiancée Lauren Wood is a Texas native, that path is looking increasingly dubious at present.
Beckham Jr. defended himself, but fans have other thoughts on the matter

While the situation doesn’t seem to be looking the best, OBJ is still one of the hottest free agents at present. But, the WR hasn’t played a game ever since he suffered an ACL injury during the Super Bowl LVI. And the progress of his health may factor into whatever negotiations come his way. Where do you think the WR will head? Let us know in the comments.
