Last week, the Minnesota Vikings’ newest WR recruit was embroiled in some intense scrutiny. 21-year-old, Jordan Addison was cited for speeding and reckless driving last Thursday, which even got the attention of former president Donald Trump’s favorite author, Nick Adams. The rookie WR was stopped by the troopers on Interstate 94 in St. Paul. The reports also indicated that Addison was driving a Lamborghini Urus at a staggering speed of 140 mph in a 55mph zone.

After the incident, Addison issued an apology and received a citation. However, there’s a twist in the story that’s come to light involving his beloved pet.

In the raised statement, the rookie WR regarded the incident as a mistake for his poor judgment. He also expressed his sorrow and vowed to never repeat the error ever again. Although he didn’t mention the reason behind his speeding in the statement, it was included in the citation. After getting stopped by the authority, he notified the officers that he was rushing back home to attend to a medical emergency with his dog. However, his speed was 85 miles over the limit, leading to the citation.

Last week, Addison faced harsh criticism and was unfairly portrayed as a ‘thug.’ But the reason behind his actions brought some comfort to people. A Twitter page with updates even defended him, saying, “This is why we should not be quick to judge someone despite how they are being portrayed.” Many users in the comment section supported the rookie WR, especially pet parents who could relate to his situation.

Although the incident now has clarification, the wide receiver still could potentially be punished by the league due to his recklessness.

Would the Vikings suspend Addison?

The wide receiver’s speeding certainly isn’t justified, and it could cause some serious issues for the youngster. 85mph over the speed limit is not to be downplayed, as it poses a genuine risk of inflicting severe injuries on others and himself. The league could potentially suspend Addison, which would have a profound impact on his debut season. Notably, it was only last year, when WR, Henry Rugs got into a fatal crash, and later pleaded guilty to DUI, which resulted in his lifetime suspension from the league.

It would be reasonable for both the league and the team to give the rookie a mild penalty for his actions. Moreover, since he’s already sitting out of the training camp due to an undisclosed injury, a training camp suspension could also be a possibility in the days to come.
