In the NFL draft, Former Kentucky Wildcats’ QB, Will Levis, fell further than expected based on his ranking on the consensus big board, which had him as the 10th overall pick and the fourth quarterback. Despite the fact that the first three picks were all quarterbacks, Levis didn’t manage to secure a spot in the coveted first round. But, what is the reason behind this?

Teams may not be picking Levis due to their lack of need for a quarterback or due to issues he had in 2020. Some experts had predicted that Tampa Bay would pick Levis, but that did not come to fruition. Furthermore, Levis’s unfortunate injury from last year is causing concern for some teams.

NFL analysts and fans as well had predicted Levis to be picked by Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Maybe, Tampa did not rate him as a first-round talent themselves or valued performance over potential and decided not to select him.

Levis’s fall may be due to teams not needing a QB or due to his issues in 2020, his lack of improvement, or his criticisms as a prospect. Quarterbacks are hard to predict and wonder if Levis will be picked in the second round by teams such as the Rams, Seahawks, Raiders, and Panthers.

The Rams, in particular, could consider taking a chance on Levis and having him sit behind Matt Stafford, who is getting older. The Seahawks have the 37th pick and could also be considering Levis as an option. The Raiders would feel much better about getting Levis at a later pick. And, the Panthers could consider selecting Levis as a backup plan if Bryce Young doesn’t work out.

Despite this, Levis was much better in 2021, indeed his fall is shocking, given that he was once the betting favorite to be a top-two pick.

Did Levis’ injury impact his first-round pick?

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Levis’ left toe injury from last year is concerning to some teams, with one calling it “problematic,” and another believing surgery may be necessary. However, Levis himself believes his toe has fully healed and surgery is unnecessary. The toe injury is likely not the only reason why Levis is still available past the first round.

Amid the heat wave of the draft, someone is there to awaken his hope, and she is Will Levis’ girlfriend. Gia Duddy is supporting him while he is in Kansas City. Gia is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, and one of the hosts of the interview platform, Visitour. Recently, she shared an Instagram story where she showed her guest pass with the caption “Guest of Will Levis 009.”
