But then they had to wait for over a decade to reach the pinnacle, until 2012, when they won their second Super Bowl. More recently, they have proved they are a force to be reckoned with, thanks to Lamar Jackson.

Lamar Jackson signed for the Ravens back in 2018 and has stuck to them ever since. His rookie season saw the Ravens win the division Championships in 2018. He followed it with an NFL Most Valuable Player in 2019. As the Ravens won the Division Championships for AFC North back to back. With his future secured at the Ravens, albeit after backlash from the fans, what’s next?

Lamar Jackson posts Instagram story to shut down fans

Jackson is one of the top earners on the Raven’s roster and the NFL. The deal signed between the Ravens and Lamar Jackson saw him earn the top dollar in NFL history days after Jalen Hurts had set the record. The Quarterback also set the record for the biggest signing bonus ever paid in the NFL with $72.5 Million.

The finances involved in sealing Jackson’s stay at the Ravens seem to have irked more than one fan. Especially since Jackson had requested a trade a month before signing his eventual deal. The fans aren’t particularly happy with him which has seen him reply in a subtle fashion.

Jackson posted a story on Instagram quoting the lyrics of the song Purp by Kodak Black as a response to the fans. Jackson captioned the line, “I’m tryna understand why all these people hate? Because I be in my own lane, I’m tryna motivate.”

Ravens looking to build on last year’s performance

The Baltimore Ravens feel they have underperformed after last season. They have been making the NFL Playoffs for quite some time now, with 14 playoff appearances since the turn of the century. But they haven’t won the conference championship since 2012. Coincidentally, that was the last time they won the Super Bowl. This could be a sign for them, that, they could win the next Super Bowl when they win their next Conference.

With their Quarterback secured for the next 5 years, the Ravens can look to build on their Wildcard playoff appearance from last season. Although they eventually couldn’t get past Cincinnati Bengals, losing a resounding 17-24, they would be hopeful of turning the tide this time around.

Ravens and Jackson are set to continue their unity for another 5 years after the mammoth contract was signed and sealed. With the fans irked and irritated, Jackson shrugs off the negativity and will look to build toward the upcoming season.
