ESPN Milwaukee’s Gary Ellerson posed a question online. He asked, Just thinking bout all these Jets players asking 12 to come join them in New York on social media. Why aren’t 12 teammates asking him to stay here? The Jets have been championing Rodgers and have not been subtle in indicating that the QB’s presence in New York is something they want. However, Packers CB Rasul Douglas defended his teammates and said, “Because we have his number. We can actually text him instead of writing it on social media. As our leader he knows how each person on the roster feels about him.” His response makes sense.

Why would the Packers squad ask Rodgers to stick around through social media when they can approach the man himself? It was a field day on Twitter for Packers Nation after the CB took matters into his hands. Douglas, who may have made fans’ day with his social media responses, claimed to have Rodgers’ phone.

He then proceeded to ask fans what he should tweet out from the QB’s account so that they know it’s true. However, a layer of intrigue was added to the situation when Rodgers’ official handle tweeted out the Packers CB’s nickname with laughing emojis.

Douglas responded by saying “I told y’all I have his phone,” with a string of emojis, alluding to his previous tweet about having the QB’s phone. While the entire situation is quite hilarious, what should the NFL world make of these mixed signals?
