Everyone in the NFL knows Patrick Mahomes. The 27-year-old 2X Super Bowl champion has gone on to establish himself as one of the greatest QBs in the league with his stellar performances. And he got this athletic gene from his father, who was an MLB player from 1992 to 2003. He was a great pitcher during his time and wanted his son to follow in his footsteps into baseball. But Patrick Mahomes decided to follow his own passion for playing football and sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, which resulted in being one of the best decisions of his life. 

But the QB has to navigate through life after his parents got divorced when he was just 11 years old. And now, his mother has come forward to reveal the reasons why she decided to split from his pro baseball husband. 

Randi Mahomes talks about the factors influencing her decision to divorce

Randi Mahomes and her ex-husband have been inconspicuous about the details of their relationship. The duo first met when she graduated from high school. Back then, she did not know that Patrick Mahomes Sr was a pro athlete. And she also did not vision herself starting a family at an early age. 

According to an article by Nick Swift, Randi Mahomes’ official bio read that she “never intended to be a young mother, but her faith told her that this was God’s plan.” She put her own career in the backseat while putting more priority into becoming a mother, as they welcomed their second son, Jackson Mahomes. But according to her bio, “married life with a professional baseball player is a hard life.” And they got divorced when Patrick Mahomes was just 11. While it was one of the most difficult times for her young son, both Randi and her ex-husband decided to keep a close relationship for the sake of their children.

And following the separation, she took care of her children with her mother, who also passed away recently. 

Patrick Mahomes’ grandmother was her mother’s pillar of support

After her divorce, her mother Debbie Martin helped Randi Mahomes in raising her children. She was her best friend and one of her pillars of support. But unfortunately, the QB’s grandmother passed away recently, after fighting health complications at the hospital. This left a void in Randi Mahomes’s life, as she takes to social media now and then to remember her late mother in heartwarming posts and stories. But despite the heartbreaking loss, she is trying her best to navigate through a life devoid of her mother’s presence. 

The Mahomes family is a tight-knit bunch. And as their NFL son continues to shine in the league, they will be sure to be a part of celebrating every little achievement and stand as pillars of support through tough times.
