The nine-season pro, Jeremy Garoppolo, has achieved remarkable feats in his career. After being drafted in 2014, he started his career as Tom Brady‘s backup, but then went on to own the incredible 40-17 record as a starter. Moreover, he led his former team, the San Francisco 49ers, to the Super Bowl back in 2019. He also maneuvered his team to become part of the top seed in the National Football Conference (NFC).

Despite everything, the two-time Super Bowl champion has been facing some backlash online, due to his recent statements about the Quarterback situation of the 49ers. Amongst the critics, the famous Sports Journalist has also slammed down ‘Jimmy G’. And Garoppolo has also responded back to his statements. Let’s dig deep into this fiasco.

After Garoppolo signed a three-year $72.25 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, he commented on the current Quarterback situation going on with the San Francisco 49ers. He said, “Been a lot of weird situations over there in San Francisco. Just leave it at that.” Mainly because the 49ers chose to go with the younger Brock Purdy rather than their trustworthy QB Trey Lance.

Well, this didn’t sit well with Stephen A. Smith, and on First Take, he remarked, “My perspective is Jimmy Garoppolo needs to shut the hell up.” Then he went on to make harsh statements about his injuries in the past. He also brought up the 2018 spotting of Garoppolo with the adult star Kiara Mia, the relationship which was questioned by many. But surprisingly, this didn’t faze the player.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Garappolo said, “It’s a blessing in disguise having those people hate on you, and it pushes you a little bit more.” He also mentioned how he’d be worried if nobody was talking about him. Such things force him to be “pushed to the wayside“. Also, it’s important to him now more than ever after the strange addendum in his contract with the Raiders.

Garoppolo has been a bit inactive in most of the 2018, 2020, and 2022 seasons due to some of the fatal injuries. Still, the 49ers didn’t leave his side for the longest time, but now he’s taken a transfer with the Raiders. But, right now, the Eastern Illinois product is being looked at with skepticism.

In March, he was unable to pass the physical test with the team. So instantly a clause was added in his new contract that gives the Raiders every right to cut the QB off at any point in time, without any sort of financial loss. However, this clause would be revoked if Garoppolo manages to pass the physical test. He is active for at least one season game.
