On Thursday, Davante Adams was not visible at practice. The wideout didn’t practice Wednesday either. He is reportedly dealing with what’s being described as a bad case of the flu. So his performance on Friday will be crucial for any optimistic chances of playing against the Saints on Sunday. In six games to date this season, with 37 catches on 63 targets for 509 yards and five touchdowns, Adams has led the Raiders in receptions.

The Raiders who just defeated Houston, still trail Kansas City by 2 1/2 games in the AFC West and are 1 1/2 games out of the wild-card picture. Thus stakes are much higher for them. Though there are some positives too on their side ahead of the big match. One such positive is Josh Jacobs. Like Davante Adams, Jacobs has also been a crucial factor on many occasions.

Jacobs’ recent performance as a running back has given the Raiders’ offense a significant boost. The last three games saw him sprint for 441 yards and six touchdowns, which is the finest run of his career. Seven of Jacobs’ carries from the previous week gained at least 10 yards. Adams and Jacobs playing together can prove lethal for the Saints. The terrible losing streak that the Saints are going through is also another aspect that will work as a positive for Davante Adams & Company.

Their own errors have cost the Saints the most in their five losses. With 16 lost turnovers leading the NFL, New Orleans also has the worst turnover differential (minus 10) in the league. While the offense bears a large portion of the responsibility, defensive players and coaches have bemoaned their own lack of forced turnovers, which is made worse by an excessive number of missed tackles. And Davante Adams playing against them will definitely keep them under a lot of pressure in the clash between the 2-win teams.
