Normally, fans tend to root for potential MVP candidates from successful teams; however, the mentality might change this season. Although chants of Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen have started among the fans, Hall of Famer tight end Shannon Sharpe believes that the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts happens to be the right person to bag the title this year.

Jalen Hurts has been looking scary this entire 2022 season, especially with his undefeated streak. His first loss came against the Commanders; however, the third-year quarterback got back to his winning ways in the subsequent weeks.

As the season is nearing its end, the picture is almost clear, and only a few names are on the top for the prestigious MVP title. NFL legend and Sports Analyst Shannon Sharpe was the latest personality to make his pick, and without a second thought, he named Jalen Hurts. “MVP race over,” Sharpe said. “That award belongs to and rightful so to J. Hurts,” he wrote on Twitter.

Well, his assessment seems fair to a much larger extent because even though his success rate and achievements are nowhere near Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, this season has proved to be a phenomenal campaign for his career’s success in the league.

His latest victory came against the Giants, registering a thumping 48-22 victory. Hurts completed 21-of-31 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns. In the current rankings for passing touchdowns, he is placed in the sixth position.

The Alabama product threw for only 3,157 yards with a completion rate of 68% and conceded only three interceptions against his 22 touchdowns this season.

Thus, the statistics are pretty eye-catching for an MVP candidate who has been vibrant since the beginning. Even head coach Nick Sirianni couldn’t describe his talent in words and mentioned the decision to draft him as the smartest move made by the franchise.

NFL world reacts to Shannon Sharpe making ambitious comments

Jalen Hurts currently leads with a season record of 12-1, standing atop the NFC East. So far, he has showcased a dazzling performance, and even if he loses the upcoming matchups, it won’t make any difference.
