Patrick Mahomes has achieved a lot on the football field in the short span of his NFL career. So much so that Kansas City Chiefs take his input for all the offensive recruitments during the draft. It happened in 2020, after winning his first Super Bowl, when Mahomes asked the franchise to acquire Clyde-Edwards Helaire. He has used his throwing technique again to catch an ace player in the 2023 NFL draft. But the pick by the Chiefs has fans around the world a little confused.

Rashee Rice is a first-team All-AAC wide receiver out of Southern Methodist University. The Chiefs picked him up in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft after Mahomes spoke highly of him to GM Brett Veach and his team, according to reports. But the pick has divided the fanbase a little bit. What did the MVP see in him?

According to Adam Lefkoe, Patrick Mahomes convinced the Chiefs GM Brett Veach to pick up SMU WR Rashee Rice in the second round of the draft. Lefkoe revealed that Mahomes had worked out and threw to Rice in Dallas during the offseason and was so impressed by him that he went to Veach to get the man for his offense.

The fans are a bit confused as to how to take the news. While many believe that Mahomes has earned the right to make such calls, others remember when the QB had asked for drafting running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire using the same technique.

This fan thinks Rashee Rice should have gone off the board in the first round itself.

According to this fan, Mahomes should get on draft pick in every draft.

Another fan reminds the naysayers that Mahomes has earned the right to dictate drafts by winning two Super Bowls.

This fan is rooting for the new Chiefs pick.

Fans will back Rice as he is a handpicked Mahomes’ choice.

Another fan just remembered the last time the Chiefs QB picked up a draft choice.

While the Edwards-Helaire pick did not bear the result that Mahomes thought, it might be due to his constant injuries. Still he, at times, has shown what Mahomes saw in him. And drafting new talent is a good practice for Mahomes for he wants to make it as a GM after his playing career.
