The Pittsburgh Steelers, who were on the lookout for a replacement for their retired star Ben Roethlisberger have surprisingly announced the player that will be leading the offense in 2022. It was shocking to see the Steelers not to bet on the big fish in the sea but rather sign an underdog like the Buffalo Bills’ backup Mitchell Trubisky.

The 2017 NFL Draft’s second overall pick has now been negotiated by the Steelers for a two-year deal. After spending five seasons in the league, first as a starter with the Chicago Bears and then as a backup to Josh Allen in the Buffalo Bills, the 27-year-old might have got his big break.
Mitchell Trubisky to play as a QB1 for Pittsburgh Steelers
Mitchell Trubisky was drafted by the Chicago Bears as the highest-selected quarterback in that year’s draft. He played for the Bears for the first four years of his career. Though his first year was a flop after recording 4-8 spell in 2017, his 2018 campaign proved to be the most successful of his career with an 11-3 record and a playoff spot.
In his four seasons with the Bears, he threw for 10,609 passing yards, 64 touchdowns, and 37 interceptions. Following the 2020 season, the quarterback signed a one-year deal worth $2.5 million with the Buffalo Bills.

He did not start a game with the Bills last season, and after the end of his one year; he is now heading to the Pittsburgh Steelers to start afresh. The Pro Bowler is believed to flourish among productive targets like RB Najee Harris and WRs Chase Claypool and Diontae Johnson.

According to Pro Football Reference, Trubisky has recorded 1,016 pass completions in 1,585 attempts for a pass completion of 64.1 percent covering 10,652 yards in 64 TDs and 4 INTs. Interestingly, the authority of the athlete will be put to test, as he is scheduled to meet his former franchise, the Buffalo Bills, and the Tom Brady led Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2022 season.
