Tom Brady and Bill Belichick carved out a piece of NFL history that cannot be disputed. With their combined efforts, the duo was able to go on to set one of the winningest records in the NFL. And while Brady was the leader of his team on the field, the burden of leading the team off the field fell on the shoulders of Bill Belichick. The HC of the Patriots was able to do something supremely special with every team that was selected for him. In fact, there are multiple players who think so as well.
An old teammate of Brady’s and a player who played under Belichick made an appearance on ‘The Herd with Colin Cowherd’. The former Patriot spoke to Cowherd about how much he learned from Belichick. Furthermore, he also spoke about how unique Belichick is as a coach.

An ode to Belichick from an ex-teammate of Tom Brady
Belichick is already going to go down as a top 10 coach in the history of the NFL. From the beginning of the 21 century, the head coach has been responsible for the kind of record the Patriots set with a QB like Brady at the helm. Intriguingly, the HC’s impact is one that his old players have gone on to acknowledge.
Recently, Logan Ryan made an appearance on ‘The Herd Show’ and spoke about his old coach’s unique training practices and how they helped him. He even went on to mention a unique manner of training Belichick employed to rectify some of the mistakes they were making. He said, “If they’re if they’re going to call a lot of holding then Belichick might put boxing gloves on our hands during the week. So we can’t hold at all in practice so you’re going to cover with your feet so he just did some things I’ve never saw or never did before in my NFL career that I thought was really interesting.”
As a safety, Ryan learned a lot from a coach like Belichick. Interestingly, he took his defensive knowledge and familiarity with Brady’s style of play and ruined the quarterback’s last game with the Patriots.
Brady’s bitter ending with the Patriots
Brady’s last game for the Patriots ended in a very anticlimactic manner. Sadly, Brady’s last throw with the Patriots did not end very well. His last throw came in a playoff loss against the Tennessee Titans. In a twist of fate, his last pass was intercepted by his former teammate, Logan Ryan. His intercepted pass eventually went on to be the reason for the Patriots losing the game.

Brady’s last game even had a very sub-par stat line with 209 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 1 interception with a 59.4 passer rating. Ryan values his interception of Brady’s last Patriots pass to the extent that he has even placed this winning ball on a mantle at home.

All in all, Ryan’s interception was a sour ending to Brady’s illustrious career. However, Brady did not have any hard feelings for the safety and even congratulated him. While Ryan might have ended the Patriots’ playoffs hope in 2020, he still showed a lot of respect to Belichick. It remains to be seen how far Belichick’s skills as a coach will take the Patriots in the upcoming season.
